CAV Football 2013

CAV Middle School team: for boys ages 12 to 14 as of May 1, 2013. Contactccousar@charter.net for more info. Middle School football spring practice is Monday, May 13th at the Anderson Civic center and ends Friday, May 17. 530-730pm each night. Cost is $35.

CAV JV and Varsity: Boys 15 and over as of May 1, 2013.

Here is the information for JV and Varsity for the 2013 season:

Training: Happening now at Golds Gym on the 28 by-pass. Players meet each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 530pm. This is not manadatory but is very good for speed, strength, agility, corps muscles and team chemisty and building. If you would like to join us…contact me for details at ccousar@charter.net. We had 10 players on Tuesday and want to grow.

Spring practice: Begins May 9 at the Anderson Civic Center field. JV and Varsity will be in full pads. If you are new to the CAVS, we will need to get you equipped prior so contact me for details. All returning players will wear old blue practice pants (if yours are worn out..let me know to order more) and white CAVS practice jerseys.

Spring practice is as follows for JV and Varsity:

Thursday, May 9 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Friday, May 10 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Saturday, May 11 8:00am to 11:00am

Monday, May 13 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Tuesday, May 14 53:0pm to 7:30pm

Thursday, May 16 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Friday, May 17 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Spring Jamboree Saturday, May 18 at 1pm at the civic center

CAV JV and Varsity players will have the following fees for the 2013 season:

$100 due May 9 for spring practice

$100 due July 22 for fall practice

total: $200

Players must also purchase equipment and uniforms and we will use the same uniform as last season. We hope to have a fundraiser to help with costs. Returning players may use the same varsity uniform unless we need a new number. New players will receive Varsity Under Armor uniforms. JV players will use old uniforms in games and those who play on both JV and Varsity will need a new Varsity uniform.

Summer training:

We will continue to train at Golds Gym and we will also move to the civic center for speed and agility and 7 on 7 all summer.

7 on 7:

We are registered for two tournaments this summer. We will make plans at the end of spring practice for summer practices. First Tourney is June 20.

Fall practice:

Parents Meeting: Monday, July 22 at the civic center field. 6pm.

Practice: 5:30pm to 7:30pm Mon-Fri 8:00am on Saturdays

Cav Varsity 34 Georgia Force 29

CAVS travel Saturday, Oct. 27 to play the HSD Panthers in the first round of the GFC play-offs at North Springs High School in Sandy Springs on Roswell Road. The game starts at 4pm.

CAV Middle advances to host the Greenville Hurricanes on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Old McCants Stadium for the PFC championship. The game starts at 7pm.

Cavs VS Rabun Gap and GA Force

Anderson CAVS Middle School 0 Rabun Gap JV 14

The CAVS took on a much different Rabun Gap squad than the first one they played and defeated. Rabun Gap played 10^th graders virtually the entire game against our middle school team. Regardless, the CAVS played tough defense and gave up a long scoring pass right before halftime to fall behind 0-7. The CAVS defense played great against the larger Rabun Gap team. The CAVS offense missed out on several scoring opportunities and fell short as Rabun Gap added a late TD with several missed tackles.

The Season comes to an end with a tough loss….will keep us hungry for next season. The CAVS finish with a 7-0 record against middle school teams and 0-3 against JV teams for an overall record of 7-3.

Anderson CAVS Varsity 0 Georgia Force 35

The CAVS varsity was young this year and it showed as the finished up the season with a tough loss to a well seasoned GA Force team. The CAVS played tough all year and we look for great things next season with virtually the entire team returning and with the addition of ten or more middle school players. The CAVS finish up the year at 4-6. The CAVS should be in line to win a championship next season.

Cavs VS GA Force and Augusta Prep

CAV Middle 33 Georgia Force 14

The Cavalier team came out firing and did it by the air and by the ground. The CAVS put up over 350 yards of offense as the entire team saw action. The CAVS move to 7-2 with one game to go.

CAV Varsity 14 Augusta Prep 28

The CAVS led 7-0 at halftime. Augusta Prep played ball control and added a late touchdown in a very hard fought conference match-up. The CAVS still have a small chance at the GFC play-offs if they beat the Georgia Force in the final regular season game this next week.

The entire team saw plenty of action as the CAVS move to 6-2 on the season.

Anderson CAV Varsity 34 East Atlanta 28

The CAV varsity team went on the road and delivered with a conference win. The CAVS are 4-4 on the season and have a shot at the play-offs. East Atlanta led 14-0 at halftime and the CAVS came charging back in the 2^nd half for 34 points. Jordan Kelly had two huge interceptions and Jamond Thomason rushed for 4 touchdowns. The CAV Defense stood tall in the 2^nd half.

Anderson Cav Middle 0 North Atlanta JV 14

The Anderson Cavaliers played an older JV team which will move to varsity next season. The CAVS played great defense but turned the ball over in crucial situations for the first time this season. It was a very tough loss and the CAVS will have to bounce back next week.

Anderson CAV Varsity 6 Holy Spirit Prep 32

The CAV varsity hosted the leading team in the GFC conference for the first conference game of the season. The CAVS played tough but were overpowered by a more seasoned team. The CAV varsity will play a 2^nd conference game next week at East Atlanta.

The Homecoming 2011 night was a great night and the teams collected over $6,500 for ministry. Praise God! We had the largest crowd in Cavalier history and look for great things to come! We are still building and growing! Go CAVS!!!!!!

On a beautiful day in the North GA mountains…both Cavalier teams played hard. The middle school team took advantage of good field position all day. The varsity team fell short at the end.

Cavalier Middle School 28 Augusta Prep 6

The Anderson Cavaliers played tough football and came away with a big Win. The defense was great, and Charlton Strickland had two touchdowns by the ground.

Jonathon Gafford also had a big night on the ground.

Cavalier Varsity 21 Augusta Prep 31

While Augusta Prep is in the GFC conference, this game did not count for conference standings. The Cavaliers had several turnovers and penalties that were too hard to overcome. Augusta Prep ran a triple option and executed two onside kicks and kept the ball away from the Cavaliers.

Cavalier VS Crown

Cavalier Middle Scout Team 0 Crown Sixth Grade Team 6

The scout team put forth a good effort and fell short. The Crown QB got loose for a long touchdown run.

Cavalier Middle 28 Crown Middle 6

The Anderson Cavaliers fell behind 6 to 0 and then turned it on! The Cavs scored 28 unanswered points. The Defense stood tall and the offense grinded out two long methodical drives of over 80 yards. The offense had over 280 yards on the ground and in the air, great team effort.

Cavalier JV/Varsity 15 Crown JV 3

The Cavaliers played the younger players and fought off many holding calls and had several touchdowns called back. Good team effort on the road with a definite home field advantage. The Cavs played awesome defense and overcame several turnovers for a WIN!

Cavaliers VS Crown, August 27th

Cavalier Middle School Scout team 8 Crown 6^th grade team 6

The Cavalier Scout team is made up of new players who have not seen much action up to this point. They played a 5^th quarter Saturday versus Crown. The Scout team fell behind 6-0 on a long run from the Crown QB. The Cavalier Scout team came back to tie it up on a fierce run by Owen Harrington. Owen then barreled over for the two point conversion to allow the Cavs to win the 5^th quarter. The entire scout team played great and Drew Hawthorne picked up an interception.

Cavalier Middle School team 19 Crown Middle 0

The Cavalier Middle Defense stepped up in this game big time. The entire defense played great. Keevin Patterson, Ryan Ross and Brandon Hull had great nights. The offense scored after Davis Cousar hit Isaac Moorhouse on a 60 yard pass. Cousar then hit Charlton Strickland on a touchdown pass. Wes Burnette took a run 40 yards for another big score and Zach Hudson and Joseph Aiken had a good night on the ground which allowed the CAVS to control the clock and the game.

Cavalier JV/Varsity 27 Crown JV 0

The Cavalier varsity team had a great defensive game as the entire team was able to get in on the action. The CAVS did not play 17 year olds Correy Graham and Ben Touchton since this was a JV game. The CAVS are a young team and they played a tough game on both sides of the ball. John Mark Skipper, Brandon Fuller and Preston Daw had big nights. Thomas Settle and Jamond Thomason carried the ball well as did Haeden Secor and Kolby Looney. Seth Gurley and Corey Adams both played QB. The CAVS move to 2-1 headed into an off week and much needed rest and healing. Defensive standouts were Jordan Kelly, Isaac Johnson and Tyler Stribling.
